 The joint winners of the prestigious Merseyside 2004 Innovation Award are Neat3D, a world specialist in image based 3d modelling technology and Lateral Visions, a leading developer of interactive 3d engine technology. They received a cash prize £10,000 and £4000 worth of consultancy services. The awards ceremony, hosted by BBC Radio Merseyside's Linda McDermott was attended by 150 leading figures from Merseyside's business community and was held at Liverpool's Crowne Plaza Hotel . The judges for the final were, Dr Sarah Tasker, Chief Executive of Liverpool Science Park, Dave Wood of Parity Computers Limited and Professor Peter Fowler, Chairman of Digital Industries North West who were all unanimous in their decision. Dr Tasker said that the winning team was "outstanding and far ahead of the other finalists*quite amazing". The Merseyside Innovation awards are designed to recognise the achievements of Merseyside entrepreneurs whose inventions, designs or projects show cutting edge innovation. The judging panel comprises BBC Radio Merseyside, DWF, Merseyside Special Investment Fund, Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Business Link for Greater Merseyside, Amatica, Radio Merseyside, the University of Liverpool, Natwest, Hurst and Co, ICDC, Jab Design, and the City of Liverpool. Mark Wynne, Neat3D said: "We are absolutely thrilled to have won this prestigious award, we have worked really hard and put our collective years of experience into shaping this cutting edge solution for the market and have commitment from a number of large blue chip companies to developing these solutions further." Neat 3D and Lateral Visions were competing against two other finalists. Spread Tech and Spiral Scratch. Spread Tech 's innovation was a machine designed for use in the agricultural industry and involves a unique way of spreading hay and straw from bales which minimizes dust and reduces risk of infections or damage to lifestock. Spiral Scratch are developers of a revolutionary three-dimensional scanner. Liverpool based company Aerogistics were winners of a special £1500 IT award sponsored by the City of Liverpool. The company has developed a supply chain management portal that facilitates the clustering of engineering SMEs up form virtual organisations. The portal provides online cluster work package management, aggregated procurement, online quotations, catalogues and document management.
